Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, organisers of the fourth annual Australian Superyacht Rendezvous – have postponed the event that was to be staged in the Whitsundays by Coral Sea Marina Resort from 15th to 18th October 2020. New dates will be announced in the future.

The prestigious annual Australian Superyacht Rendezvous showcases the Australian superyacht industry, its capabilities and economic potential along with Australia’s destination appeal, marking it as a uniquely intrepid travel destination for superyacht charters for luxury holiday-makers.

Paul Darrouzet, organiser of Australian Superyacht Rendezvous – Great Barrier Reef Edition and owner of host venue Coral Sea Marina Resort – says ongoing uncertainty around the border closures and lifting of restrictions has resulted in the decision to postpone the event until further notice.

“We have remained positive about keeping options open to stage the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous in October 2020 – particularly in light of the sadness and disappointment that has come with so many events being cancelled, but we don’t feel there will be enough recovery time to be able to proceed with the event with the remaining lead time,” Mr Darrouzet said.

“The implications of COVID-19, and subsequent international and domestic travel restrictions, financial and logistical issues are beyond our control and we have been left with no other option than to postpone,” he said.

“We are passionate about helping with Australia’s economic recovery from COVID-19 – particularly for our marine and superyacht industries – so we very much look forward to announcing new dates in due course.”

The fourth edition of Australian Superyacht Rendezvous will showcase the Great Barrier Reef as an international superyacht charter destination for attending international superyacht industry heavyweights, superyacht owners and buyers, charterers, captains, international brokers, tourism and industry professionals plus media and government representatives.

Australian Superyacht Rendezvous has also for the first time ever, attracted the support of Tourism Australia who recognise the tourism potential of Australia’s superyacht industry and our country’s all-year cruising and adventure driven charter destinations with signature on and offshore experiences.

When the next edition of Australian Superyacht Rendezvous is able to proceed, it will involve showcasing, informing, educating, networking, superyacht hops, and island immersion for VIP guests.  Attending guests will be transported by participating superyachts to a range of land and sea-based Whitsunday-exclusive experiences, including Whitehaven Beach, reef adventures, wildlife tours and more.
