Noakes was established in 1979 as a rigging company and now owns and operates leading marine maintenance and repair facilities on the Australian east coast. Today the wholly Australian owned and operated company encompasses two boat and shipyards located in North Sydney and on the Port Huon River in Tasmania.

For over 35 years, Noakes has been providing a comprehensive maintenance and repair service to the marine industry from dinghies to tall ships and power boats to naval landing craft, covering vessels from 4 to 80 meters. Our travel lift has a capacity to lift boats up to 80 tonnes and our inclined slipway can slip vessels up to 160 tonnes. Noakes also owns a 1000 tonne floating dry dock which is being refitted for larger Commercial and Defence work.

We have a highly skilled and experienced workforce in the following disciplines; rigging, shipwrighting, blasting, painting, fabrication, engineering and project management. Our team works with all marine materials including, steel, timber, aluminium, carbon and fibreglass. 

A measure of the high levels of workmanship and care at Noakes is that the company has recently been awarded long-term continuous maintenance contracts with the Royal Australian Navy and NSW Government. Power or sail, large or small. Noakes Group sets the standard.
