Tourism WA is the State Government agency responsible for marketing Western Australia (WA), attracting and promoting sporting, cultural and business events; and developing significant tourism infrastructure and projects.
The State’s tourism assets regularly feature on superyacht cruise itineraries, with port facilities and boat harbours used crew changes and refuelling. Popular destinations range from northern marine reserves in the Kimberley region, through South of the Port of Fremantle, WA is home to world class infrastructure at the Australian Marine Complex, and its established Superyacht manufacturing industry.
Driven by increasing global and domestic demand for vessels, WA’s superyacht construction and maintenance industry is experience considerable growth. Increasing numbers of new builds, retrofits and superyacht operations present significant opportunities for marine, manufacturing, tourism, and ancillary service providers.
Tourism WA is engaged with Superyacht Australia and other stakeholders to establish a Superyacht Industry Development (Strategy) for WA, to identify opportunities emerging in the superyacht manufacturing and operations markets.
The Strategy will aim to identify growth opportunities to facilitate, build resilience and foster the WA superyacht industry, landside and marine functions. A key focus is to explore WA’s strengths as a superyacht manufacturing and servicing hub destination. This includes opportunities to stimulate growth, attract investment, encourage economic diversification, and sustainable jobs whilst maximising the use of existing tangible and intangible transport infrastructure.
