AUSTRALIAN SUPERYACHT INDUSTRY ASIAN ENGAGEMENT PROJECT
In July 2013 Superyacht Australia was successfully awarded an Asian Century Business Grant in a bid to drive opportunities for the Australian superyacht industry in Asia. Superyacht Australia’s successful project proposition includes research into doing business in four key markets identified as markets of high opportunity to do business and collaborate with. These markets have been identified as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. A major component of this engagement project will include the organisation of a Trade Mission to these markets for direct engagement, relationship development and site visits to understand the market. It is anticipated that participants in the Trade Mission will be agents, refit/repair shipyards and key product and service providers from the Australian superyacht industry who provide services which attract business to Australia.
This Activity received funding from Austrade as part of the Asian Century Business Engagement Plan.
PART 1: The first aspect of the Asian Engagement Project involved a trade mission to Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Phuket, Thailand. The mission included site tours and meetings, ensuring an excellent opportunity to communicate with the Asian industry regarding Australia’s superyacht industry and our capabilities and facilities to host and undertake routine maintenance on superyachts in the region. The Phuket Gazette recently posted an article regarding this mission, read here:
PART 2: A trade mission incorporating attendance at the Asia Superyacht Conference and site visits of Superyacht facilities in Singapore will be undertaken in April 2014. Superyacht Australia will be organising an Asia/Australia industry networking event further encouraging connections, collaboration and knowledge of one another’s capabilities.
